18. The fascination of technology
Tractors, vintage cars, technology to marvel at and participate in
13./14. August 2022 // Brickyard Park Mildenberg

On the weekend of August 13th and 14th, 2022, after a two-year break, everything revolves around the topic of technology in the Mildenberg brickworks park. Lovingly dressed up vintage cars, tractors and two-wheelers as well as historical and modern technology make the pilgrimage to Mildenberg. The event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The official opening will take place on Saturday at 10.30 a.m. by Matthias Rink, head of the Oberhavel district.

In addition to old agricultural technology, such as Deutz, Famulus, Porsche or Alloy, there is a large number of vintage cars. The car brands Mercedes, Triumph or Cadillac from the 40s to 70s are represented, as well as GDR classics such as Wartburg, Trabant or W 50. Of course, vintage motorcycles such as JAWA, MZ, AWO and Simson are also included. Exhibitors travel from Berlin, Potsdam, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the neighboring counties.

For the second time, the "Physicants & Co." from Witten will be there with the interactive physics show "Nah-dran". When the "physicists & co." explain the world, physical phenomena appear like magic: "It is very important to us to present supposedly 'difficult' science in an easy and enjoyable way", explains graduate physicist Marcus Weber, head and founder of "Physicants & Co." In the Brickworks Park, they fascinate with amazing experiments and make guests smile, marvel, laugh and tinker.

"We are delighted to present such a spectacular science show that has already delighted over a million viewers", emphasizes Roy Lepschies, manager of the brickworks park. They are known from radio and television, for example from the programs “Galileo” or “Ask the Mouse”. With impressive physical phenomena and experiments, they will amaze the audience on both days at 12.30 p.m. and 14.00 p.m. on stage with wit, charm and knowledge.

In addition to the special driving features, the highlight is the walking herd of the artist group "foolpool" from Munich. The herd of mechanical beings is an installation made from recycled bicycles that has come to life. It visualizes the successful combination of technical progress and upcycling in times of scarce resources as well as the do-it-yourself mentality. The Oberhavel band "The Beaters" will provide the musical atmosphere at 11.00 a.m. and 15.00 p.m. The quartet brings Beatles flair to the Ziegeleipark. In front of the stage, the artist duo of the "FeuerWer" show will deliver breathtaking moments on a historic fire engine. Extraordinary acrobatics, spectacular fire-fighting exercises and all that on an 18 m high turntable ladder await young and old on both days at 12.00 noon and 16.00 p.m.

Round trips with the brickworks railway are possible all day long. The LOWA steam locomotive will pull the Tonlorenbahn through the idyllic Tonstich landscape when the weather permits. Younger guests can let off steam on the bungee trampoline and in the water balls, or they can try their hand at playing bricks. All sorts of market stalls with various handicrafts, junk and spare parts invite you to stroll and browse. There are culinary treats everywhere at the festival or you can feast comfortably in the “Alter Hafen” inn.

The technology festival for the whole family is kindly supported by the Mittelbrandenburgische Sparkasse Potsdam, Borchert Baustoff-Fachhandel GmbH NL Velten and the media partners "Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung".

Day admission costs 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for children (4-14 years). Classic car and tractor owners have free admission, passengers and everyone else pay the regular admission price. The event is open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m.
